1	• Definitions: Understanding terms like Authorised Person, Energy Sources, Isolation of Plant, Isolation Procedure, Lockout Devices, and Plant.
2	• Lock-Out and Tag-Out Rules: Requirements for attaching lock-out devices, retaining keys, managing multi-person lock systems, and handling unfinished jobs at the end of a shift.
3	• Types of Tags: • Out of Service Tags: Yellow and black tags indicating unserviceable plant. • Personal Danger Tags: Red and white tags used when work is undertaken on machinery that could cause injury.
4	• Step-by-Step Isolation Procedures: Shutting down plant, de-energizing sources, applying locks/tags, controlling other hazards, and testing isolation.
5	• Energy Sources & Hazards: Identifying electricity, chemicals, fuels, heat, steam, pneumatic pressure, pressurized fluids, stored energy devices (springs, batteries, capacitors), gravity, and radiation, alongside secondary hazards like burns, falls, and asphyxiation.
6	• De-Isolation and Re-Instatement: Conditions for safely removing locks, notifying relevant personnel, conducting visual inspections, and managing supervisor removals in specific situations.

#	Outcomes
	• Ability to identify all relevant items of plant, associated hazards, and multiple energy sources (such as electrical, fluids under pressure, and fuels).
	• Competency in applying correct lock-out devices, personal locks, and tags at energy isolation points.
	• Understanding of how to safely discharge stored energy before commencing work.
	• Knowledge of proper testing protocols (using instruments and attempting to re-activate plant) to verify isolation effectiveness before starting work.
	• Mastery of the de-isolation and re-instatement process once maintenance is completed

#	Participants
1	� • Authorised Persons: Employees (such as plant operators, supervisors, or maintenance personnel) authorised by the Area Manager/Supervisor who are sufficiently competent to lock out, tag out, and isolate installations or plant.
2	� • Workers/Employees: Personnel required to reduce their exposure to dangerous plant parts and potential sources of stored energy during operation, maintenance, or servicing.
